The Midwest series is the longest running series in the US (possibly the world) for nitro 1/10 and 1/8th scale on road racing. It is a six race series that tours the mid west to six different tracks and offers a great mix of different surfaces and layouts between the different venues. After attending my first event I realized that the series offers very competitive racing in a laid back atmosphere which results in having fun no matter what your goals are in racing.
The series opener found us in Cincinnati Oh a very nice and large permanent track where they have held both 1/10 and 1/18th scale ifmar world championships in recent history.

Friday: the XRAY team consisting of Drew Ellis, Chris Doseck, Tom Esposito and myself showed up to check out the track and prepare for the weekend of racing to come.

Saturday: morning practice went well for myself, Drew and Chris getting up to speed very easily, so going into qualifying we all felt good about the weekend to come. In the first round of qualifying it was me and Chris Doseck battling it out for TQ, Chris ended up getting the early TQ as I ran out of fuel with 1 lap remaining, otherwise it would have been very close between us. In the second qualifier it was again myself and Chris battling it out, it seemed as in the beginning of the run I was the faster of the two but in the remaining minutes it was Chris who was able to make a charge, in the second round I snuck it out for the TQ, with Chris in second, Bobby Flack in the third spot, Drew Ellis in fourth. For the third round we got rain so the round was canceled.

Sunday, we had great weather so the 4th and final round was set. The last round went very well for team XRAY as when the dust settled we had qualified all four of our drivers in the top 5, with Chris Doseck taking the top spot, my self in second, Drew ellis in 4th and really getting it figured out Tom Esposito in the fifth spot.

Main was scheduled for a 30 minutes ru. Just after the start it was Chris and my self putting a little distance on the field and battling hard, I lead going into the first pit by just a couple of seconds. As we continued Chris was hanging back just a corner but not letting me get away. On the third fuel stop I think that my zip tie on my fuel tank somehow got positioned in a way that it keped the tank from shutting all of the way, so between the fuel splashing on the tires and the motor going way lean I had to bring it in, then it shut off in the pit so I was laps down. But it was Chris having a great Final putting a good distance on second place. Drew Ellis was running third most of the race but also had problems in the closing minutes which dropped him back to 4th, but still a good finish.
